Recently I was in search of a replacement phone for my everyday personal needs.
I view a few manufactures but one phone that I fell in love with was the Uniden ELBT595 Bluetooth Phone.

The Bluetooth function lets you use your cellular phone and your home phone all in one. Uniden is definitely going in a right direction.
Besides the standard functions that all cordless cell phones have. The phone is still a good investment. Now I can have my cell phone charging and use my home phone to answer my local and cellular calls. With the standard head base or other bluetooth accessories.
Hope to see more of these phones popping up in the future.

How to make your Cordless Phone Last Longer

How to Make Your Battery Last Longer
Get the most juice from your cordless phone with these GH Institute tips.

Charge the battery completely as soon as you take your new phone out of the box. The first charge will probably take about 20 hours, but be sure to check the manual. And don't interrupt the charge ?- you could permanently shorten the battery life. When done correctly, the battery will last about two years.

Keep the phone away from heat. This includes a radiator, the oven and any sunny spots in your house. High temperatures contribute to battery wear and tear.

To help prolong rechargeable batteries, you should "condition" them on a regular basis ?- which means completely draining and recharging the batteries. First, figure out which type of battery your phone uses ?- it should be clearly visible on the label found in the owner's manual.

There are two types of batteries, and each requires a different approach: Nickel cadmium batteries have been around for awhile and use the designation NiCD. They should be completely drained and given a full charge cycle once a month.

Nickel metal hydride batteries are a newer generation and are identified with the designation NIMH. They need to be conditioned only once every three months.
Tip: The easiest way to fully discharge the battery is to wait for the power to run out before connecting the handset to the base station.

Got a dead battery? You can find a replacement at an electronics store for $10 to $30. If your phone is an older model, you may have to call the manufacturer.

What's the Big Deal on Zabra Search

The big deal about Zabra search is public domain. What happens is that if someone types a first and last name. They can easily find your address and telephone number.
Many people are upset about this because they feel like their privacy are violated.
Hello the telephone company has been doing this for years. If they are not going to get the information from the Zabra search site they are going to get this information from some where else. Go figure why they're upset, when this is been available for years, ever hear of 411 - information or the White Pages. Just because certain information in not given to the entire public does not mean they don't have access to it. Public domain is public domain.
I have a good example for you. Let's say you type in Bill Gates. Well Bill Gates is really William Gates. And guess what he's not on the listing. So what does that tell you. The information is only available for certain individuals.

The new 64 bit Series

If your not aware you now are that the reason for all the sudden price changes in current personal computers is because their are a new series of computers on the way which are the 64 bit computers.
What's the difference with current computer 32 bit and 64 bit computer?
Well for now it's not much a big difference because they hardly have any good software's out for 64 bit yet - just that your screen display will be quite smaller than usual when viewing icons. But eventually the personal computers today will look very different later on with software upgrades to 64 bit. For now save your money and wait until everything is finalized and settled.
If you want to jump on the band wagon and get a 64 bit personal computer now, beware. They have hardly any software that support 64 bit applications.
What that means is that you could have a new powerful personal computer with useless applications because the current 32 bit computers are hardly compatible to the new 64 bit PC's. So waiting is an economical choice.
Here are a few links for various support to 64 bit products:
Amd

Also if you have a current windows XP Pro computer and you are upgrading to 64 bit. Good news. Microsoft will let you upgrade your PC to 64 bit. But they're is no upgrade for user with Windows Home edition. Here is their link:
Microsoft 64 bit

Microsoft AntiSpyware

I was advised a while back on Microsoft new AntiSpyware application. Even though its in BETA version its worth to check out and try. I hope Microsoft will incorporate this product in its operating system like most of the other products it already has.
It's pretty great. With Eraser tracks it can clear up your history on your computer so that no one can tell what you were doing on that personal computer. Pretty cool for a beta version.

Note: Per a blog article on 9/19 beware of this product. It apparently can damage your personal computer configurations. It removed Internet Explorer which the program considered as spyware. So even though it seems to be a good product I would suggest you keep an eye on it and wait until it comes out of beta version.

AOL to Pay $1.25M to Settle State Inquiry

ALBANY, N.Y._America Online Inc., the world's largest Internet service provider, will pay $1.25 million in penalties and costs and reform some of its customer-service practices to settle an investigation by New York Attorney General Eliot Spitzer's office.

Around 300 consumers had filed complaints with Spitzer's office accusing AOL, a wholly owned subsidiary of Time Warner Inc., of ignoring demands to cancel service and stop billing.

The company, with 21 million subscribers nationally, rewarded employees who were able to retain subscribers who called to cancel their Internet service. For years, AOL had minimum retention or "save" percentages that customer-service personnel were expected to meet, investigators said.

The employees could earn tens of thousands of dollars in bonuses if they were able to dissuade half of their callers from ending service.

That led many employees to make it difficult for consumers to cancel service or simply ignore such requests, Spitzer spokesman Brad Maione said.

As part of the settlement, Dulles, Va.-based AOL agreed to eliminate any requirements that its customer service representatives maintain a minimum number of "saves" in order to earn a bonus and record all service cancellation requests and verify the cancellation through a third-party monitor.

AOL, which cooperated with Spitzer's office, did not admit to any wrongdoing in the settlement.

The company also agreed to provide up to four months of refunds to all New York consumers who claim their cancellation requests were ignored. AOL has 1.9 million subscribers in New York.

New York consumers seeking refunds can obtain a claim form from the attorney general's Web site.

ZoneAlarm

Zone Alarm is another utility that I use frequently and its a good alternative to install if you have Spyware or Adware on your computer.
What Zone Alarm does is that it controls what goes in and out of your personal computer. You don't want valuable information leaving your computer at anytime and its always best to be able to see what information is coming in and out of your computer.
The permission pop ups from Zone Alarm is easy to setup and the program is very user friendly. All you have to understand is that if your using America Online and you want to access the internet. A Zone Alarm pop up is displayed on your lower right hand side of your computer asking you for permission. And you either say yes or no, so that American Online can access the internet. The rest is the same for other programs you use on your computer.
